Learn to Speed Skating
The Learn to Speed Skate program is designed for skaters aged 4–12 who are new to speed skating. This program falls within the Fundamentals stage of development and focuses on building the essential foundations of speed skating. Skaters will develop proper techniques while gaining confidence on the ice, all leading up to participation in their first meet or race.
Program Details:
- Ages: 4–12 years old
- Skill Level: Beginner, no prior speed skating experience required
- Focus: Fundamental speed skating techniques and race preparation
- Practice Schedule: Once per week, 90 minutes on the short track ice surface
This program provides a fun and engaging introduction to the sport, fostering both skill development and a love for speed skating.
Lv.1 Bay Area Ice Sprouts
Target Audience: Absolute beginners and young children aged 4+.
Core Focus: Overcoming fear of ice, learning balance, standing, safe falling and standing up, and basic forward gliding.
Lv.2 Skill Pioneer
Target Audience: Skaters who have mastered basic gliding and wish to learn professional techniques.
Core Focus: Crossovers, edge control, and sudden stops.
Lv.3 Speed & Elite
Target Audience: Advanced skaters aiming to challenge their speed boundaries or participate in competitive events.
Core Focus: Professional speed skating starts, highly efficient straightaway crossovers, corner passing techniques, and endurance/explosive power breakthroughs.
